This film tells the poignant love story of Artemisia, a young Italian female painter during the Renaissance period. Born into an artistic family, Artemisia, with her exceptional talent in art, defied conventional rules and was unable to enter the art academy. Despite this, her relentless pursuit of painting continued passionately. It was not until she met the painter Agostino Tassi that her life took a turn. Their passionate love was hindered by her father, who took Tassi to court. A tragic story unfolds... The film was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 1998 Golden Globe Awards.
